Instructional Designer

£30K - £35K Basic Salary

We’re looking for an experienced blended learning designer to support an established Learning and Development team based in Newcastle.

You will be responsible for updating and developing learning content that supports learning both online and face to face, with particular focus on apprenticeship programmes, but including a flagship product outside of apprenticeships.

Key responsibilities

  • Liaise with SMEs to understand learning requirements and to scope the learning solution
  • Take raw content and produce creative storyboards
  • Write engaging video and audio scripts
  • Maintain the integrity and quality of specialist eLearning products through the monitoring of quality and performance, implementing updates and checks, and managing the external supplier who supports the service
  • Provide graphic design concepts and proposals
  • Develop eLearning using authoring tools, such as Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate
  • Project manage each project to ensure that the solutions is of a high standard and on time
  • Provide advice and technical support on the CRM and Learning Management System
  • Carry out all duties regarding safeguarding and health and safety regulations


  • Relevant qualifications desirable
  • The organisation carries out Safe Recruitment and a full DBS check will be required for successful applicants


  • Educated to degree level or equivalent


  • Experience in an Instructional Design role or similar
  • Experience designing high quality blended learning across a range of delivery mediums including digital, face to face, video, virtual classroom, webinars and facilitated sessions
  • Experience using authoring tools, e.g. Adobe Captivate or Articulate Storyline / 360
  • Experience working with a range of LMS’s including Moodle is advantageous
  • Proven experience of working with senior clients and SME’s


  • Organised and detailed approach
  • Ability to manage all aspects of the workload
  • Excellent copy writing skills, with a keen eye for detail
  • A sound understanding of adult learning theories and learning methodologies
